Upward Bound: Removing Barriers to School Success

Dr. Lyn Olsen has been the director of the federal grant Upward Bound Trio Program which provides a wide variety of college prep services to disadvantaged, low-income, high school students from Rincon, Amphi, Presidio and Flowing Wells Schools. She has provided all types of students services as well as taught for over 20 years at Pima Community College. She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Arizona and her master's in public administration from Montana State University. She has five national certifications in healthcare administration as well as written many books and done hundreds of presentations on a wide variety of topics. |

The River Run Network is a group of people working together to restore Tucson's heritage of flowing creeks and rivers. The River Run Network includes all of the Tucson basin, with a focus on target restoration areas, called streamsheds. Streamsheds are specific stream sections and the adjacent land area that most influences the stream hydrology. The streamsheds are delineated by areas that have common hydrologic characteristics and flow restoration goal. |

Gayle grew up in the Albany area of Upstate New York, and moved to Tucson 18 years ago to escape the winters, where she fell in love with the desert and mountain ranges.
Gayle was the first in her family to go to college and earned her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2002.
Gayle has served in leadership positions including Human Resources & Marketing Director at Carondelet Medical Group, Physician Operations Director at Banner Health, Pathology Administrator at UPH (before Banner came to Tucson), and as a community outreach liaison to rural communities at Cenpatico. She currently serves as Development Director for the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance. |

County Administrator's role in Pima County

Mr. Huckelberry is a native Tucsonan. He graduated from Flowing Wells High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, as well as a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, from The University of Arizona. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor in the State of Arizona. Mr. Huckelberry began his career with Pima County in 1974 as a Field Engineer in the Department of Transportation. He became the Director of the Department of Transportation and Flood Control District in 1979 and held that position until 1986. He served as the Assistant County Manager for Public Works from 1986 to 1993; and since 1993, he has held the position of County Administrator. As County Administrator, Mr. Huckelberry manages a $1.3 billion budget and a staff of 7,000 employees under the direction of the Pima County Board of Supervisors. He has received numerous professional awards and recognition, including: 2016 Arizona Transportation Legacy Award Distinguished Citizen Award from The University of Arizona College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award from The University of Arizona’s Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics; Engineer of the Year for the State of Arizona, awarded by the Arizona Society of Professional Engineers; Public Official of the Year from the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association; Public Servant of the Year awarded by the Tucson Mountains Association; and Sonoran Desert Conservation Award from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Transportation Legacy Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Arizona. He has also guided the County to numerous national awards in public works, disaster assistance and recovery, and environmental conservation. Mr. Huckelberry is the primary author of the nationally recognized Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, which received the National Outstanding Plan award from the American Planning Association. |
