Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Tucson AZ Sunday April 10, 2011

More than 11,000 people participated in Sunday's 13th annual Susan G. Komen Southern Arizona Race for the Cure at Reid Park.

"It was fabulous," said Jaimie Leopold, executive director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Southern Arizona. She added: "It's about love and life and hope, and the determination to find the cure for cancer."

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds from the race stay in Southern Arizona. The remainder funds national research and grants, and sometimes returns to Tucson to fund research at the Arizona Cancer Center, Leopold said.
