Speaker Dec 2 will be Rotarian Denny Scanlan.  

Assassination and attempts over the past 150 years."

A Rotarian since 1992, Denny served the Rio Rico Rotary club as President (1995-96) and currently is the Sergeant at Arms  for the Sunset Club.  He has filled many other club and committee roles and responsibilities during his tenure as a Rotarian. He has served as District Trainer, four terms as Assistant Governor and has filled many other district level positions.
At the international level, Denny was GSE Team Leader to New Zealand in 2005.  He also founded a fellowship called the International Fellowship of Rotarians with Repaired Hearts, affectionately known as “the Zipper Club”. 
 
He has attended nine International Conventions, serving as Sergeant at Arms at eight, plus three International Assemblies, fourteen district conferences and numerous PETs and other rotary events.


He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor and a charter member of the Foundation’s Bequest Society.  He is also a major donor.  Currently he is trying to figure out what he is going to do when he grows up.
 
His Rotary classification is Safety and Security, spending almost 44 years in that industry.  He has been a police officer, Private Investigator, bodyguard, firefighter, safety director and consultant to a variety of industries.

Denny was married to PDG Valerie Scanlan for 39 years prior to her passing and now enjoys time spent with his extended and blended families which include twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.​
