The DM50 was formed in 1986 by a diverse group of greater Tucson
civic and business leaders to further enhance and strengthen the
relationship between Davis-Monthan Air Force Base personnel and the
civilian population of the region. Its mission is to improve the
quality of life for the DM airmen and their families in ways that would
demonstrate the respect and appreciation the region has for its
military personnel. It also functions as an advocate for the base and
attempts to bridge relationships among DM and the educational,
commercial, political, and social leadership of greater Tucson. The DM50 is a non-profit, volunteer service organization with no formal
ties to DM and since its inception has been instrumental in providing
over $750,000 in funding for dozens of initiatives that improve the
quality of life for DM's airmen. These funds are raised from the
greater Tucson community on an annual basis to support:the Child Car Safety Seat Program and Blake Down Annual DM-50 Golf Tournament to mention just a few.
