· Welcome to this week’s guest attendees Ms. Rachel Arvizu and her mother Maria Ramirez, and our guest speaker Mr. John Moffatt.
· Doug Robson has been released from the hospital. He is home now but still recovering. Please continue lifting him up in prayer and sending him wishes to get well.

· Congratulations to Ms. Rachel Arvizu, this year’s recipient of the Frank M. Coffin Scholarship. Rachel is a 2021 graduate of Flowing Wells High School and currently a Freshman of the U of A. Congrats once again and best wishes for a successful future Rachel!
· D5500 is co-hosting a joint conference between Rotarians in Arizona and D4185 Rotarians in Central Mexico (Veracruz, Puebla, Cuernavaca, Acapulco.) Each year the venue alternates between Arizona and Mexico and this year the event will be held in Tucson Thursday evening, February 3 through Sunday morning, February 6th. The conference has two objectives: 1) First is the support of Global Grants. Clubs provide presentations in support of obtaining a Global Grant and funding support, usually an international sponsor. The site of the project need not be in Arizona or Mexico. 2) Second is to foster goodwill and better friendships. The conference provides an opportunity for fellowship and to continue fostering friendships and good will with the Mexican Rotarians. Anyone interested in attending the conference, please contact Dante.
· The Club needs volunteers to serve as Sergeants at Arms for the months of January through June. Additionally, volunteers are needed for greeter, inspirational/motivational messages, room set up, and IT set up. Please consider volunteering for one of these roles. Interested parties please contact Keith Ganske.
· Our next meeting on January 18th is our third meeting of the month so do not forget to bring your non-perishable donation item(s) for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
· Don’t forget to mark your calendar for D5500’s Rotary Day of Service project on March 5, 2022, at 7:00 am. D5500 is sponsoring the clean up the Rillito Wash. David Baker is serving as OPRC’s liaison for this project. If you are interested in participating in this project or have any questions, please contact David.
· This week’s guest speaker was Dr. John Moffatt, Director of Economic Development for Pima County. John Moffatt is a native of Tucson and a graduate of The University of Arizona. His has over 55 years of experience in the Information Technology industry with over 40 years as President of an international software development and IT consulting firm. He has work in Pima County for over 20 years in a wide range of industries and in the development of technology infrastructure in data centers, office buildings and regional infrastructure. Dr. Moffatt provided an overview of current developments in Pima County including growth in logistics where multiple last mile and middle distribution centers such as Amazon, FedEx, Home Depot and even Home Goods are expanding. He discussed expansion in aviation on all fronts at TIA, Pinal Airpark and Davis Monthan. He discussed the growth of aerospace and defense companies like Raytheon, Paragon, Sargent, Davis Monthan and others which have invested greatly in Tucson. Between 2019 and 2020, Raytheon spent over $800 million dollars building research and other facilities with greatly contributed to local employment opportunities. Dr. Moffatt spoke about the next wave of growth which is technology specifically in the areas of optics, software, autonomous vehicles, mining, and semiconductors. Lastly, Dr. Moffatt provided an overview of Pima County and areas that face developmental challenges due to government owned land restrictions, lack of industrial space, limited private developable space and limited direct air space.
