Last Week's Meeting Summary
On October 12th, OPRC held its weekly club meeting at La Parrilla Suiza where nine members and five guests attended the meeting.  After calling the meeting order and reciting the 4-Way Test, the President made general announcements including the following:
-  The Board is working to finalize a new permanent meeting location taking in account the recent survey results that indicated a strong preference for La Parilla Suiza.
-  OPRC received a beautiful thank you card from DG Hank Huisking thanking the club for its polio donation made in her honor.  She also invited all OPRC members to participate in the upcoming El Tour De Tucson - Ride to End Polio event.
-  The Ride to End Polio is a bicycling fundraiser hosted by Rotary District 5500 in conjunction with El Tour de Tucson, one of the largest annual bicycling events in the US.  The event takes place in Tucson each November in efforts to raise funds for the fight to end polio.  Our very own OPRC member Joe Davey is participating in the 102-mile event this year with a goal of raising $1500.00.  Show your support by clicking here and donating to Joe’s ride.
-  Linda Mazon Gutierrez provided an update regarding the October 22nd Educational Enrichment Foundation annual Ray Davies Luncheon honoring Bruce Dusenberry and his as family.  OPRC currently has nine of ten seats filled for its table.  Please consider signing up for the LAST seat or making a donation.
-  Our guest speaker for the meeting was Dr. Judy Kiyama, Associate Vice Provost, Faculty Development at The University of Arizona.  Dr. Kiyama provided an overview of her role and efforts in College Access Pathways, educational outreach initiatives, and research in community partnerships.  She plays a vital role in UA’s Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation and implements effort to increase minority and indigent family representation across the institution.  She provided details regarding the HSI Fellows Program, HIS Seed Grants, the Culturally Responsive Curriculum Development Institute, and the Centering Servingness Webinar Series.  Dr. Kiyama invited members to attend the free webinars and particularly this week’s webinar which features OPRC member Beto Ranjel.  RSVP Link:
