How the Tucson Roadrunners can be an asset to your business/organization
Aug 21, 2018 12:10 PM
Kelsen Adeni is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Tucson in 2013 to study at UA. He worked in the Athletic Department for most of my academic career while also playing rugby for the school. He graduated in May of 2017 and started working for the Roadrunners the next month. About the Roadrunners: The Tucson Roadrunners moved to Tucson from Springfield, Massachusetts in 2016. Located in downtown Tucson at the Tucson Convention Center, the Roadrunners averaged 4,500 fans per game over 34 home games. Last season, the Roadrunners won the Pacific Division, had the best record in the conference, and won the Border Trophy – the award for winning the rivalry series with the San Diego Gulls, and advanced to the 2nd round of the AHL Western Conference playoffs. |

Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona
Oct 09, 2018 12:10 PM
Leslie Pike is the Manager of Programs and Volunteerism at the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona. She has lived and worked in Tucson for 38+ years and has spent her career dedicated to the mission-minded initiatives of non-profit agencies. In a state where 1 out 4 families live at or near the federal poverty level, Leslie is honored to do her part in fulfilling the Diaper Bank's vision of a community where every diaper need is met.
Clarissa Piccolo is an AmeriCorps VISTA serving with the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona as outreach coordinator. She graduated from the College of Wooster this spring with a degree in political science and minor in sociology. She is passionate about social justice and poverty related issues and hopes to attend law school in the future with a focus in human rights. In her role at the Diaper Bank, Clarissa is enthusiastic about serving the community by working to increase community involvement and raise public awareness on diaper need. Diaper Need in Southern Arizona An often overlooked issue that effects 1 in 3 families, the lack of enough clean, dry diapers creates a serious chain of consequences for children and their parents. For older adults, loss of dignity and independence can occur when necessary incontinence supplies are unavailable. We will discuss how this happens, why it matters, and what we, as a community, can do to help |

Flags for the Flagless
Nov 13, 2018 12:10 PM
Flags4flagless.org Charley's Bio: I'm a 16 year veteran of the Tucson Police Dept. During my career I've been a member of our Dept SWAT team, a Medal of Valor recipient, a two time Chief Citation of Excellence recipient and in 2014 I was awarded the Tucson Police Foundation's Unsung Hero Award. Fourteen of my sixteen years have been on patrol where the other two years was spent at the academy where I was a rifle and pistol instructor. If there is such a designation as a "professional cop" I'm it. But my life changed in 2014 after I met another professional, only he was a professional football player. He told how he he was giving back to veterans and told me what he was doing to make a difference. Well it inspired me to do more with my life and that when I founded my non profit organization, Flags for the Flagless. What I envisioned being a weekend job to keep me busy, has turned into a full time passion. To date I've raised 94 American flags around Pima County, placed close to 400 flags in school classrooms between Brooklyn NY and Tucson and for the past two years, I've partnered with the University of Arizona to fly a different family's interment flags at every home football game. |
