Beacon Group - off-site meeting

This weeks Rotary Meeting on July 7th, took place at the Beacon Group location (an off-site meeting) The director Patrick McCarthy gave us a very brief approximately 30 minute discussion on all the services that the Beacon Group provides for the Tucson area
The Beacon Group works to Empower people with disabilities by providing supervised training & activities for adults with developmental disabilities, by providing real-world work experiences
The Beacon Group provides sub-contracting for  companies such as Alcoa, Raytheon Missile Systems, Ventana Medical Systems as well as providing training for  their "clients" for Eegees, Jim Click Automotive and Safeway, to mention a few.
...to  become qualified for placement in permanent jobs, integrating into the mainstream workforce and achieving a high level of independence.
Besides the shopping bargains for the public in their thrift stores,  the Beacon Group offers an in-house  secure paper shredding service for customers of all sizes including both large and small corporations.
Parenting classes are offered in the evening at their facility too. 
The last part of the meeting we all took a tour of their new facility on Glen St.

It was a very enlightening and informative meeting for everyone.
