Feb 13 - Friends meet Amigos

All the friends in Saguaro Rotary were pleased to meet two Tucson Amigos and hear an inspiring presentation about that organization.

Amigos del los Americas is an organization that sends teenage volunteers to spend 4-8 weeks living with families in rural, third-world Latin American communities. Combining cultural exchange with service to these needy people, the experience broadens and educates the teen volunteers.

The Saguaro Rotary Foundation met Feb 9 and approved a donation of $750 for a Rotary International Matching Grant to support infrastructure improvements at an orphanage in Morag, Poland. The total grant, including donations from a number of District 5500 Rotary Clubs and other Rotary Districts, plus the matching funds from RI, is approximately $25,000.
