Feb 24 2009: Col Vince Saroni

The Saguaro Rotary Club was honored with a very interesting and informative presentation by Col Vince Saroni of the US Air Force who was the Deputy Commander, Gulf Region Division of the US Army Corps of Engineers in Iraq from Jan of 2008 to Aug of 2008. Col Saroni told us about the Battle for Sadr City and showed a map of the rockets launched into the Green Zone in Baghdad. He also showed some great photos of some of the projects and people he was involved with during his tour in Iraq. Col Saroni also was frequently involved in meetings with General Patreaus in his role as Deputy Commander. Col Saroni also earned a Bronze Star for his service in Iraq. The club very much enjoyed and appreciated his presentation together with the many guests particularly from the Saroni family and our latest Flowing Wells student of the month. Thanks also to our own Maurice Saroni for inviting him to our club.
