Our mission is to promote successful aging through a three-fold approach: lifelong learning, healthy living and social engagement.  Founded in 1982 and based in St. Louis, the non-profit organization is now active in 40 cities across 24 states and serves more than 56,000 individuals each year
Our vision is to see that adults age 50 and older across the country have opportunities to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives.
We seek to positively impact their lives through partnerships to share knowledge, offer evidence- and research-based programs, conduct evaluations and adapt to meet the needs of diverse audiences.       http://www.oasisnet.org/

 OASIS Tutoring:
A dynamic approach to helping children with their reading and writing skills.
The OASIS Inter-generational Tutoring Program promotes literacy with a proven approach to help high-needs children read and write at grade level.
The program taps the potential of volunteers who have the time, patience and life experience to make a profound difference in the reading and writing lives of young children.
Working with elementary schools K-5, OASIS Tutors work one-on-one twice a week as tutors, mentors and friends with children who are at-risk students.
Tucson OASIS will provide free training, materials and ongoing tutor support for all tutors in this program.  Fingerprinting will be provided for all tutors who do not have a valid fingerprint card.
Tutor Training Workshops are scheduled for May 8th & 9th
