Our first meeting of 2007, after a holiday break, was a great start on a fun year. Rotary Exchange Scholar Justin Bergfield, home for the holidays from Oxford University in England, was a visitor. He was accompanied by his host Bruce Gow of the Abington Vespers Rotary Club in District 1090, South Central England.

Multiple birthdays, announcements, and happy bucks kept Sgt. at Arms John MacIntire busy. Foundation Treasurer Scott Polston reported great success with our Foundation month points match, raising over $1,100 in donations to the RI Foundation. Then Sam Behrend revealed the next Foundation fundraiser, the Saguaro Superbowl Squares. About 25 of the 100 available squares were sold on the spot. At $5 per square, you'll have 4 chances to win a donation to your Paul Harris Fellowship if your magic numbers match the score at the end of a quarter or the end of the game. Don't miss out!

Finally, our annual White Elephant Gift Exchange was most efficiently and enjoyably conducted by Scott Polston. (What ever happened to that nice young lady that used to do the White Elephant event every year?) Anyway, where else could you get a mirror framed in sequins and trimmed with white fur? Visit Glen Gunsolley at work to see it in a place of honor on his desk. (I'm sure that's where it will be!)

Check the Speakers list for upcoming programs and be sure to note our off-site meeting January 30th at the Arts Partnership Gallery.
