Our May 23rd meeting gave us a great start on organizing for our Poker Tournament fundraiser in October.  Committees were formed, with attending members stepping up to support the event.

This is our major fundraiser for the next Rotary year with a goal of $5000+ profit.  Key strategies for the success of the event include:

  • Develop corporate participation for team entries and sponsorships
  • Use a free, or at least cheap, location without a food and beverage package
  • Provide our own food.  The Sunday afternoon event won't require a full meal
  • Sell our own beverages for added profit

Event chairs Jeretta Douglas, Fred Narcaroti, and Dave Becker will be in contact with members who could not attend the meeting to tell them about the committee opportunities.  Committees for the event include Sponsorship, Team Entries, Prizes, Publicity, Food, Beverage, Setup and Location.

The fees for the tournament have been set as follows:
  • Individual Entry - $60
  • Spectator - $30
  • Team entry, 5 players - $350 (5x60=300 + 50)
  • Table Sponsor - $150, no entries
  • Sponsored Team - $450, includes Table Sponsorship and a Team entry

Suggestions for possible locations are now being collected - criteria for the location are low cost, central location, nice appearance, a food prep area, 2000 sq ft or more of space, good lighting, and they must allow us to bring in food and beverages including beer and wine.
