   The Benefits of Yoga

As an RN, Mary Somers was drawn to yoga in the 1990's when she found that practicing yoga poses could alleviate the neck pain she was experiencing. Mary continued to practice yoga casually on an "as needed" basis for several years until the early 2000's when it occurred to her that yoga could not only
resolve health issues, but prevent them with yoga. This epiphany led her to begin practicing yoga and meditation more consistently eventually leading to completion of Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2011.

In addition to Hatha Yoga, Mary has had the opportunity to study Vinyasa and Kundalini Yoga as well as Tai Chi.  She is also a Reiki Practitioner and a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader. Her strong desire to teach yoga and meditation comes from knowing first-hand how remarkable the benefits can be - in every aspect of life.

She is deeply appreciative of all of the teachers, including Priscilla Potter, Maya Fienes and Tejpal, who have influenced her practice.

Cynthia Barthole began her career in ballet and modern dance. After leaving the performing arts, she turned to yoga as a form of movement, stretch and physical workout, practicing in the Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles. Cynthia has been practicing yoga for over 12 years and holds her 200 hour certification from The Yoga Connection.

She is FA/CPR/AED certified by the American Red Cross. Cynthia currently applying her years of fundraising and nonprofit administration expertise to the Yoga Connection as Program Director.
