Maggie McCane - Southern Arizona Against Slavery

Maggie McCane is a Licensed Master Social Worker working as Child and Family Therapist at Casa de los Ninos, with a specialty in maladaptive sexual behaviors. Maggie attended one of SAAS’s presentations while studying at the University of Arizona, which is where she first learned of the prevalence of human trafficking. Maggie felt as though this could not be ignored, and she traveled to Indonesia and lived in Honduras to better understand power and control dynamics in different cultures, before settling in Tucson to continue this work. Maggie took over the role of President in 2017. In her spare time Maggie can be found hiking with her dog, cooking, designing the next home improvement project, or spending time with her family.

We believe that community education is critical in the fight against trafficking, because everyday citizens are the ones best equipped to spot and report human trafficking. SAAS provides training to various stakeholders about the basics of human trafficking, as well as how to identify and work with victims.
